I am scared have been told need hysterectomy

I went to the doctor today and he asked me if I was ready for a hysterectomy. This is the 5th doctor that I have seen that has asked me this. I really trust this doctor but I am scared and not sure what to do. Every doctor that I have seen after looking at my tubal results and my c-section results has automatically said I have to have a hysterectomy. I am assuming that they have found something in these results that have made them come to this conclusion. Unfortunately I continue to search for a different answer. I am on pain pills to take care of the pain that I am going through. The doctor is giving me a prescription of hydrocodone every 30 days to help with pain. I am tired of taking medication to make the pain go away. I am also worried about getting this done. I have tried this before and my insurance told me that they would not cover it until it was deemed medically necessary. Well I am assuming that it is considering 5 doctors have told me this. Please help what would you do in my situation?

I'm sorry you are hurting and facing a big decision. Do they know what's causing your problems? Sometimes it's not enough for insurance companies to just have mult. docs opinions; sometimes they want the patient to try various options before approving hysterectomy. Again, it may depend on what they think is causing the trouble. Do you know? The more you know about your specific condition, the better prepared you'll be to ask questions and make decisions.

Even though it's frustrating, sometimes it works out well, because it really does make sense to try something less invasive when women are good candidates for an alternative. They often work! Only when my other options failed, did I know for sure that a hysterectomy was necessary.

have you asked any of the 5 dr's why they feel you need a hysterectomy? what is your diagnosis?

The only thing that any of the doctors have informed me of is massive cysts on my ovaries and blocked tube. From the results of my ultrasound and another test that they have done on me they are also telling me that i have endometreosis. We have tried different birth control pills and they have told me that I am too far along in the endometreosis to do any scrapes that it would not help me.
