vaginal pain

Hi,My name is Mary and I last checked in almost two years ago.I had simple endometrial hyperplasia (14mm) with a lot of polyps,I had a D&c with scope and have been fine for the most part. But now I have been having pain sometimes when my husband and I are intimate. The pain is sharp and deep.I have been with my husband for thirty years and its happening in positions we have use many times.Last year at my check up I did have a follow up ultra sound and everything looked good.Has anyone had hyperplasia grow back really quickly? Also for some reason my hot flashes are getting worse lately. My doctor said they would get better and they did,but now I feeling they have gone into reverse. I'm maybe 5years post menopausal.Any feed back will be much appreciated. Thanks, happy quilter.

Re: vaginal pain

Hi Mary Have you talked with your DR about the vaginal pain and increase in hot flashes? It sounds like hormonal symptoms to me. The vaginal discomfort in particular can be caused by low estrogen levels in the vagina, which causes the walls to become thin and fragile, even tearing easily.

If that's what is causing the pain, it can be easily treated with some vaginal estrogen such as Vagifem, Estring or one of the vaginal estrogen creams. The doses are so low that even women with a cancer history are often permitted to use them.

I would suggest getting in to see the DR and telling him/her about all your symptoms. Let us know what the DR says, OK?

s,
-Linda
