Wierd abdomianl feelings

I had a partial abdominal done on October 21, 2004. Is it normal to have such wierd, painful sensations in your lower abdomin? I have a tight pulling sensation, from the left of my belly button down to the incision area. I am always bloated, have a tight/hard lower abdomen. Is this normal?? Please help!! I hate this feeling. Thanks, Sherri

re: wierd abdominal feelings

Yes, I just had my uterous removed in October. I appreciate your help very much. I don't feel bad, just a lot of pressure, and pulling in my lower abdomen. Does anyone know why this happens?? Thanks, Sherri

I think pressure and pulling are quite normal when you have your uterus removed. There are tons of stiches inside and lots of swelling. Plus, all of your other organs down there are trying to settle back into place.

I'm about 6 1/2 weeks post-op and still get twinges of the pulling sensation. The pressure has pretty much subsided, however. But, I did feel pressure through about 5 weeks post-op.

If it is really bothering you, please call your doctor! They can check things out just to make sure all is well.

Hang in there and take care!

Wierd abdomianl feelings

I had a partial Hyster too. Oct. 11. I feel pretty numb along incision (bikini cut) but above that up to belly button it feels really tight. The uncomfortable part is that it kind of burns. The skin feels sensation at the surface but any pressure like rubbing or elastic of underware is very uncomfortable. I wonder if when they clamp and retract your abdomen open if it damages nerve endings and all that has to recover. Or maybe this is all the ligaments that were attached to the monster uterus and had to be severed, then stitched back. Anyway I only take motrin occasionally now. Today I wore support panties. That seems to help because any jiggling or vibration seems to cause the tightening to feel worse.
I had a pedicure done last week, it was nice and relaxing especially since I can't bend and take care of my toes now anyway. The chair had the vibrating massage feature. After a few minutes I had to turn it off, the vibration really bothered my guts. Weird huh? I always enjoyed the massage before. I'm sure in time when the insides settle it will be ok. I also had to buy big oversized granny panties. Real sexy! I hope to get rid of them someday but right now if the biggest ones are not clean I am really bummed when I get dressed. I can wear one pair of jeans but they have some stretch in them so that helps. I know these things will get better over time. This is part of the recovery I did not expect and I'm glad you posted because I wondered how other's pain felt to them. I can say mostly it has been just discomfort and not real bad pain for me.
