Just came home from the castle yesterday and still have not had a bm since before my surgery, any advice or should I just play the waiting game?

I had the same problem. I called the Dr's office and was told to take something over the counter, it sure worked. I felt so much better after that. Call your doc and see what they say, don' t wait too long.

Hope ya feel better

Warm prune juice mixed with orange juice works for me everytime. This "therapy" was given to me some 15 years ago by a very wise nurse.
Most Dr's will allow Milk of Magnesia, however DONT USE THIS until you've spoke to YOUR Dr.

good luck

I had surgery on a Tuesday, home on Thursday and no bowel movement until Friday.

Walking did it for me. My son and I went out for short walk and could not wait to get back home.

I used a stool softner and PLENTY of water and walking. My doc advised me to use the stool softner, so I would check with your doc first before you take anything. My doc also advised a supository, because I had surgery on a Friday, home on Monday and by Thursday STILL no BM. So it was a combo of things for me -- but I never did anything without dr's advice.

Check with your doc ASAP but I used a stool softener, plenty of fibre, prune juice, extra fruit, water and walking when you are up to it. It does work. Don't let it get too bad - I did before I was doing all these extras. I was in agony and had to go back to hosp at 2 weeks for the day to sort it out. It wasn't very nice!! Good luck!

I didn't have a bm for 6 days after my surgery but I also had my colon stuck to an ovary. I started stool softners when I got home from the castle, tried to drink a lot of water and walked a lot.

I had surgery on a Thursday, came home on Sunday and did not have a bm until Wednesday. Walking, prune juice and oat meal helped me! And a stool softener!

What are you eating? Try to eat those things that cause you to have an easy BM. This worked for me. Breakfast (6:00 am)1/2 cup of Oatmeal Snack (about 10:00 am) 1/4 cup of dried apricots Lunch (12:00) Soup Snack (2:00) 1/4 cup almonds with lots of water....60 oz of water each day. I walked around the house at least 3 times each day success on day 5. Good luck
