Gas,gas and more gas

It has been a week and I am suffering the worst gas after my laproscopic total hysterectomy. I'm better after going to the bathroom but after I eat the pressure and pain start up. No relief from tums or pepsid....will try Mirolax next (3 things my doc told me to try) Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Re: Gas,gas and more gas

Oh, yeah, I remember that terrible gas. I took Gas X and changed my diet to foods that were the least gassy. And definitely no gassy foods such as beans, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, fried foods, peas, raisins, bananas, whole wheat, and soda. "Safe" foods include yogurt, peanut butter, grapes, canned fruit (but not the juice), applesauce, white breads, pasta with light sauce (no cheese sauces), mashed potatoes, white rice, lean meats, squash, and non fried eggs. I ate a lot of peanut butter sandwiches, grapes and applesauce. It's funny but the foods that are good for bowels (apples, whole wheats, etc.) are rough on you for gas. I hope this helps you. It took me about 2 weeks to get through the gas issues altogether. I only had about 5 days of real bad gas pains. It certainly wasn't fun dealing with it either...brought me to tears more than once...that and the hormones.
