DVT Pre-Op Complication

Hi! I'm fairly new to this site and am hoping someone can help me out. I was diagnosed with a severe case of fibroids in late January 2012. I had an MRI done on May 8th, 2012 which showed at least 10 large fibroids, the largest in the upper right quadrant (13cm x 13cm x 10cm). My doctor tells me that it's as if I'm full-term with triplets or quads and that they're taking up 2/3rds of the space in my pelvic area and abdomen. On May 18, 2012 - I sought help for severe leg pain, swelling and discoloration in my entire left leg. Ended up being transferred to a second hospital and spent 3 days in their cardiothoracic ICU unit and an additional day in the regular ward due to DVT (deep vein thrombosis) caused by compression from the fibroids. Now, I'm on lovenox and coumadin, have given up birth control pills and been told that surgery to remove the fibroids will be too risky for at least the next three months. Can anyone tell me if they've had a similar experience or provide any advice? I never suspected this problem could be so life altering or dangerous. Many thanks! Claire123

Re: DVT Pre-Op Complication

Your situation is totally outside of my experience. Just want to say I hope you do okay while waiting for surgery, and that surgery solves the problem. I bet you will feel so much better afterward. All the best wishes, and an armful of hugs!
