Re: Bloated Stomach

This also sounds like what I'm going through. My 1 yr hysterversary is Nov. 8th. It is very frustrating. My doctor scheduled a CT Scan, for me. I am going crazy waiting for the results. Right now, though, my thyroid is hyperactive , too. All this waiting is frustrating.

I have hypothyroidism and wonder if that is part of my trouble right now. I saw my GYN yesterday and she didn't find anything. They even did a urinalysis and I do not have a UTI. She is sending me for an ultrasound and gave me a referral for a second opinion with a GYN pain specialist. I plan to see my general practioner to run more bloodwork and make sure my thryoid is on track.

The new GI doctor said the same as the other one I had been seeing, that I have IBS. I have been taking Fiber Choice fiber supplements, but noticed my stomach was worse since taking it, so I recently cut back to see if it will help.

This is so darn frustrating and I am sorry for all of you going through this too!!

Re: Bloated Stomach

I had my LAVH-BSO on 9/26 and had the swelly belly for a couple of days. Finally stomach was flat Now I get up in the morning it is flat my the afternoon it looks as though I am 7 months pregnant!! I hate it!! Don't see the Dr. for another 3 weeks, but I know him. I'm sure he will say it's normal and I will still be stuck with it. So if anyone finds out what can be done(Please Let Me know)!!!

Re: Bloated Stomach

From what I've read we should drink loads of water, walk, rest, don't overdo it, but above all give yourself a chance to heal properly which can take up to a year. I'm at nearly 8 months & can't wait to get back to my size 8, 8.5 stone. Carrying an extra stone is making me feel 100, so any remedy would be most welcome x x

Re: Bloated Stomach

I had swelly belly for 7 months. At 7 months I started feeling good enough to exercise. I still had a little swelly belly. Well, I was doing a core work out, so I was working all areas. Within a week, my swelly belly went away! Now, I tried doing this at 3 months and it just made things worse. Don't try to rush it. Listen to your body. I am a slow healer and very jealous of the fast healers! The swelly belly will go away, even though it feels like it never will. Just give it some time. Take care!

Bloated Stomach

Hey thanks for the heads up Maddock. Just starting tedious day of meetings & so great to hear from a sister! I'll heed your advice & be a bit cautious. At last I can honestly say my belly is smaller in morning but it's taken nearly 8 months to get here! Slow healers of the world unite! Your experience is gold dust & so very welcome (& re read when I get low to pep me up

Re: Bloated Stomach

I to am bloated. 1 week 2 days post op. i've been on stool softeners and gas x. My dr., told me to take dulcolax for my constipation. i was able to have a bowel afterwards. but back to bloated & constipated. Now he said to try an anema. this bloating and constipation is by far the worse part of the healing process for me. I hope it gets better for us all that are suffering with such discomfort. Wishing you the best

Re: Bloated Stomach

Hi Chiboricua! Yup! The bloating and constipation are tough! Have you tried warm prune juice? I know it doesn't sound yummy, but it really worked for me. Try 1 cup then wait about an hour. If nothing, then drink another cup. You want to drink about 1 cup a day to keep things moving. Try not to drink too much so you don't go totally the other way. Also, drink a lot of water and eat high fiber foods. This should bring you a lot of relief. Gas X also worked wonders for me.

This will get better and does go away. I know it seems like it will never go away, but it does. You will notice that each weeks gets better. You are in my prayers!

Hugs,
Suzy

Re: Bloated Stomach

Hey Chiboricua Suzy's right, you will pass through that phase with prunes, water & more water. I'm at nearly 12 months now & have lost about 7 lbs of the extra stone I put on. My belly is still swelly but less solid than it was, & doesn't have the depth that it did. (it used to fill my whole hands, now only half the depth.) since Christmas I've been on 1200 calories a day plus 15 mins aerobic exercise, & it seems to be working. Before then if I did too much I'd bloat. It's slow progress but I'm getting there & you will too. Believe
