Not too sure what doing too much after hysterectomy surgery means

I am 2.5 weeks post-op laprascopic total hysterectomy and bladder suspension. I have been feeling ok not hurting, but tired. I'm always tired though. I drive, did the grocery shopping this past Sunday (with the help of my son), sweeping the floors, doing laundry, washing dishes, and cooking. My doctor said I should be out of work for 3 weeks. My next appointment is on January 27th but I'm not sure if I should try to see him earlier to go back to work. Should I? Am I over doing it?

We all over do it. But listen to your body...if you feel tired or crampy you pushed too much. I have had many surgeries in the past and always do too much too quick and then after my help is gone wish I had the chance to rest. I do not like sitting still and am a horrible patient cause I always want to get up.

Don't rush this....you have many years to do everything. ☺

I agree. Sometimes we stay so on top of our meds that we don't hear our bodies telling us to slow down. If you are tired or even a little sore you could be overdoing it. You only have 1 chance to heal correctly.

Hi!!! Glad you are feeling well enough to get out, just getting out of the house does wonders. As far as doing too much, if you aren't sure just let pain be your guide. Don't push to acute, horrible pain but if you are having cramping, are aching, genrealized fatigue, then take a break. We all heal and recover at a different pace so it's tough. I had a TVH with sling and I'm off for 4 wks. I think much depends on what your Dr thinks you can do. Don't be afraid to call and tell them you don't think are ready if you go back and have a tough time. Let us know how it goes!! Prayers for quick healing and happy tuesday!!!
