One Week marK!!
Omg I have hit the One week mark. I am now extreamly emotional and I am the one who PUSHED for this. I don't know why maybe it is the kids. AND then I see other ladies are writing their children notes. THAT makes it real I guess. I really need to do that. I am sure everything will be ok but god forbid something happens. I was going to mention it to hubby but he doesn't want to hear stuff like that
I can not complain about hubby at all he has been REALLY good with all of this. I am just losing it. I want to call and ask the dr for something but I don't think he will give it to me. The stress is radiculous How did you all function with out making your kids hate you in the process. NOT good!! HELP...

One Week marK!!
Hi Gina
We're the same date!
How old are your kids? Mine are 14 and almost 13 - both girls.
They just can't get past the fact that this might happen to them!
I'm finding that no matter what I'm trying to do or talk about, the surgery keeps getting in to the conversation or at least in my head. i find I'm very preoccupied with it and can't concentrate well. Which just doesn't work well when you're teaching kids!
Try to keep busy - cooking & baking for the freezer, cleaning, Christmas shopping, reorganizing cupboards, laundry ... whatever to fill the time.

One Week marK!!
Thank you ladies... My children are 10, almost 8, 4 and 2. Honestly I do not want to write letters. I start crying everytime I think about it.It makes the thought of all this REAL. I know I am safe one way or another but at the same time my children are really all inoccent in all this as I have not really explained it all to them. They are to young really. The worst things keep coming into my mind like My youngest wont remember me if something happens. its just hard!!
I think as I get closer things will be ok.. but for now I am busy cleaning Like Crazy!! My house has been SPOTLESS! Its amazing what a little life scaring can do to someone!! lol.

I'm right there with you. I know these thoughts are crazy!! I've cleaned and recleaned, organized and reorganized. Wow! I hope I get some of the energy back after the surgery. My poor puppy is getting a bath every other night. He just looks at me like I'm crazy and enjoys his bath. The kids and I have played more games and watched more silly movies the past 2 weeks. Sad thing is I should have been doing more of this all along. Hang in there we're gonna make it!!

One Week marK!!
I just came back from the vet. My dog got hurt some how last night - not exactly sure if he slipped or what while out with my daughter. Anyway they're doing x-rays now to determine if he's ruptured or otherwise damaged a vertebrae!!! If so, it's rest and anti-inflammatories for him for 3 weeks ... just like ME!!! LOL
Seriously, I hope he's just pulled a muscle but I guess if it has to the vertebrae thing the timing is right? sheeesh what next???

One Week marK!!
Girls, what you're going through is perfectly normal. You're allowed to be self-focused, emotional, and "nesting." Do what works for you.
I didn't write letters. I wrote LISTS when I was too tired to clean. DH is in charge of this, Roommate is in charge of this, DD#1 is in charge of the phone tree, etc. I kept the grandchildren busy by asking for homemade get well cards to keep them out of their mothers' hair. These are the grocery lists and menus for the next three weeks until I'm allowed to drive again, etc. I ordered Xmas gifts online, or made notes of where to find the gifts for later, since shopping is out. It's been fun to get those packages in the mail, post-op.
When I felt negative, I started an anonymous blog and whined there in private. I did all my fussing and cussing where no one would see who knew me. I even took a notebook to the hospital and it came in handy to write down everything the nurse or doc said so I wouldn't forget. It's been a good journal.
