I have blood in my urine!

Hi Sisters! I had a complete physical today with my primary care dr. Everything ck'd out okay, except the urine test. I have blood in my urine. She's sending it to the lab for further anaylsis as she just did the stick test in the office. If those results indicate the same, or worse, she's referring me to a urologist. She mentioned 3 things, and before she said them, she told me not to get upset...yeah, right!.... she mentioned a cyst, infection and the worst, cancer!!! I asked if it could be related to my female problems and she said it's a possibility. I thought I was starting to bleed the other day, but couldn't tell where it was coming from....I know that sounds stupid, but I just had a feeling that it wasn't coming from nasty ole uterus. I also had a fever of 100. She said she didn't think this would be anything that would hinder my surgery. I sure hope not ...I can't stand the waiting now and I don't know if I would go thru with it if I have to wait any longer!

thanks for listening. Take care, Sisters

I have blood in my urine!

Hi Aimster...Right back at you because I just went thru everything you are now going thru. If you have a low grade temp, you probably have an infection. The first and most common cause of hematuria is an infection. I had myself so worked up over the "C" word. Being referred to a urologist is a good thing. They will sort thru your problems and find out what is wrong/right. IVP & USN rule out cysts, cystoscope looks for abnormalities in your ureters and bladder. Cytology looks at cells your bladder is shedding. My Dr thought I had a UTI and put me on antibiotics. My urine cultures came back no growth which means no infection. I had myself so worked up because I had endo on my ureter, and they were determining if that was causing a partial blockage. I let my mind wander from there and boy was I a mess. Try not to look too deep into this and make something more of it for sanity sake. I know that is easier said than done. I recently walked in your shoes and am not done yet! The fact that you have a low grade temp points to an infection. Lets pray it is that!

I have blood in my urine!

thanks for the reply, Sandwoman. I don't know what to think....my dr didn't seemed concerned about my temp at all an didn't give me the impression that it's related to the blood in my urine. She was really great, took a detailed history. and spent an hour with me.....I didn't think docs gave that kinda treatment anymore! I told her that I seem to be so tired these last few days and seems all I do is yawn....I'm thinking the worst, I know, I know! She thinks my tiredness is stress related because I've been so wrapped up with this hysterectomy, my mom's breast cancer, etc. I've been sleeping like a rock though,so I know that's not a reason. My gyn put me on Zoloft earlier in the year and my primary doc is switching me to Wellbutrin...300mg. she thinks I'm depressed! If I find out that all of this is because of my uterus, ovaries, etc., I'll be one happy woman when it's gone.

Take Care

I have blood in my urine!

I am hoping they find white blood cells in your urine and get you on an antibiotic. You will feel much better in 24 -48 hours. Do you have any UTI symptoms? like urgency, frequency, burning and such? I am sure your Dr asked all those questions. But it may put your mind at ease if you have some of those symptoms. There are more but I can't quite recall them all now. Glad I could be of some help and feel free to email me if your needing more support. Definitely know how you are feeling.
