Four weeks post TAH/BSO

I'm 4 weeks post op (TAH - uterus, ovaries and cervix)
I have not had a full nights sleep since my surgery. The initial pain, insomnia and hot flashes all night are horrible! My schedule is all backwards since I do not have to get up at a specific time. Many times I am awake at 5 am to get the DH up and out the door for work.
I used to be a very chilly person and now I can't seem to cool down!
My body chemistry seems to have changed too. I've always had very clear skin and now I have acne! I smell a little different, my face is broken out and I am constantly sweaty!

Count me in...I had insomnia issue prior to surgery, but now it is so much worse!!! I am also WIDE awake at all hours of the night. I have started walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes during the day and I have a 3 story home that I go all the way thru all day, but still no sleep. I feel tired, absolutely exhausted--but no sleep and so now I have no focus, I feel cotten headed and bouts of vertigo plague me when we go out to dinner or for walks. I NEED REST!!! I was so disappointed that the narcotic drugs made me hyper like cups of super charged coffee chased with red bull--so I did not enjoy the sound slumber and constant state of napping i was hoping for immediately post-op and now the insomnia is worse than ever. I would give anything for a good nights sleep--I would even give up my uterus!!!!

I want to join the insomnia club too. I didn't sleep great before the TAH but now it's worse. I tried tylenol pm and ambien. Don't work and made me feel worse. I usually wakeup around 1:00am and struggle the rest of the night. Sorry, I don't have any solutions - just empathy!

Tylenol PM does not work at all for me. Advil PM previously gave me very weird and disturbing dreams - so I've not taken any since my surgery.
I am seriously thinking about calling my Dr to get a prescription. I need to go back to work in about 3 weeks and need to have a regular schedule before then!

Four weeks post TAH/BSO

Since my TAH on 12/12, I have suffered from terrible insomnia. I mean, up ALL NIGHT -

When I finally fall asleep, it's about 8 in the morning, and I'll sleep until about 10:30...so basically I'm getting 2.5 hours sleep every 24 hours.

I have tried reading "boring" books to doze off, listening to soothing music, silence, podcasts, counting sheep, prayer beads, meditating, chamomile tea, hot showers, sleeping on the couch...

finally I resorted to taking the hydromorphone pills my doctor gave me for post-op pain. You would think, hydromorphone = sleep, right? Wrong.

I had severe anemia (fibroid-related) and I used to fantasize about having weeks off where I could just sleep all night and nap all day. Now here I am, going back to work on 1/26 and I'm afraid I won't get a decent night's sleep between now and then.

Without a doubt this has been the worst aspect of the post-op period and has made my life a living ****.

I have my 4 week post-op exam tomorrow and will definitely tell my doctor, but I just needed to vent here! I have looked this up online and didn't find out why it's happening, and the hysterectomy guide I bought pre-surgery didn't mention it at all.

Well----sweet dreams, ladies, let's hope!!!

That insomnia is for the birds!!
I am up now, but the only thing that worked for me was my doctor upping my hormone patch - Vivelle Dot.
Now I can sleep through the night and get to rest.

Except now when i get hungry! UGH! LOL!

I'm about 2 1/2 months out from my surgery and I've started having insomnia again. It was bad before the TAH, and I had the usual at 3-4 weeks, but it got better. Now I'm back in the club!!!! I'm WIDE awake until 4-5am and then I have to get up at 6-7 to get my son ready for school. It's crazy! We should start an insomnia thread, that way we all can chat!
