Upcoming hysterectomy 5/17: Restaurants that can accommodate liquid diet? (Traveling for op)

My husband and I will be heading out Monday morning for my surgery on Tuesday as it's across the state - I have to have labs done on Monday afternoon. I'm going to be on a liquid diet all day Monday, but since we are traveling and will be in a hotel room the night before, we won't have easy access to things like Jello.

Are there any restaurants that might have a broth-type soup? My husband will have to have real food (obviously) but I'd love to find a place where I'm not sipping water and watching him eat.

May I recommend finding a Vietnamese restaurant. They have a wonder soup called Pho. It usually comes with noodles and greens in it but the broth itself is clear, robust and delicious. I bet you could ask for just broth. Wonton soup from a Chinese restaurant may also work, just don't eat the wontons.

That's a great suggestion; thank you! We're traveling to a much larger city so there will be lots of Asian restaurants available. I could also probably do the onion soup at a Japanese place since it's entirely broth.

I traveled out of town for my last surgery, and I jello, broth, Gatorade, and water with me. I had an ice chest for the drinks and jello (which I made into Jigglers for easier eating) and a thermos for the hot broth so I could eat during the drive as well. The hotel had a kitchenette so we were able to fix more food once we arrived. My DH had his own real food with us that he fixed, too.

Eating anything at a restaurant can be dicey as they could inadvertently use diary and other ingredients that are during a liquid diet as part of a bowel prep for surgery.
