Hello everyone! Thank you for all the support you have been giving. I am scheduled for 12-18-01 for a TVH and possibly remove the left ovary. All the stories talk about "pillow police". Can someone please tell me who that is and how many pillows should I have ready????
Also, Good Luck to all the Ladies in Waiting. Seems I have been waiting too long.
(I have chronic pelvic pain, bad paps, enlarged uterus, heavy bleeding/ clots, and fibroids. They might have to do an TAH.
Thank you again for having this website available.

The Pillow Police can take many forms. Your DH, your mom, your friends, your kids, and of course all the Sisters here. They are always watching you, and if you try to do too much (like a "short" trip to Wal-Mart at 2 weeks post-op), they will likely chide you for not allowing yourself to heal properly, and may bodily wisk you off to bed and tuck you in. So behave yourself during recovery, or you might start hearing sirens...
The number of pillows you should have is open to debate. The bare minimum is your regular sleeping pillow(s), plus a tummy pillow to press against your tender belly when you walk, cough, laugh, or use the bathroom. Do *not* try to get through a hyst/recovery without a tummy pillow. Some sisters also swear by a pillow to rest their legs/knees on while sleeping, and others insist that the real key to happiness is one of those huge "body pillows" for curling up with. If you like to sleep on your side, you may find that you tend to "fall over", and might like a pillow or two with which to prop yourself up. Maybe a neck/head pillow for TV watching on the couch? When in doubt, get too many pillows.
