Four more weeks

I went to my doctor for my following up appointment. Four weeks after my hysterectomy. He did not do a physical examination. However he told me it would be 4 more weeks before he release me. I had my hysterectomy on December 20, 2012. I will go back on Valentine's Day. I guess he did not release me because I told him I started seeing a pink discharge the week before my appointment. I though I was having a mini cycle but some of the ladies on the board told me I was not since I had my cervix and uterus removed. My dr informed me the pink discharge tells him that I not healed. How do the dr know what is going on if he did not do a physical examination? My doctor informed me the pink discharge is a sign that I am doing too much. I have returned to work on January 7. My husband was disappoined because he has to wait four more weeks.

Re: Four more weeks

Your doctor is probably speaking from his experience from previous patients. If you are 4 weeks out and still having pink discharge then you are still healing. He probably plans to check inside on your next visit. If he doesn't, I would ask him to. 4 weeks is still early in your recovery, so it's good to wait and let your vaginal cuff heal properly. Your DH may need some help finding another outlet but 4 more weeks is not much in the scheme of things.
