Hospital Food!

It would appear that hospital food is pretty sad and lacking the world over, I must admit I thought it was only the UK that had it bad.

It might be a good idea to run a poll or something on this topic what do you other sisters think?

Hospital Food!

I was never on a liquid diet...I had surgery in the morning and didn't get to my room till afternoon, so dinner was delivered to me...some kind of roast beef something or other...ick! I drank my mountain dew for dinner, then breakfast was this hunk of ham with some kind of egg laid over it...with melted cheese on top, or a dinky bowl of cheerios. I drank the coffee and prayed I would be released soon. Big mac's never sounded sooooo good.

I remember wanting some ice chips day of surgery and I was allowed one spoonful every 30 minutes. That seemed like a feast. Next morning jello, broth and then a flavored drink, and diet sprite. Don't want to know what is in jello because on that day it was great. My DH brought pudding containers for a snack later in the evening because they came at 8 for breakfast, 12 for lunch and 5 for dinner and that was it!!!

well I didnt even google it, I cant stand Jello anways, and im sure it wouldnt help matters.

Im one very luck princess our hospital has the best food Ive ever known to hospitals. So my hope of loosing any weight during this is out the window, unless im just too sick to eat.

I took what ever they gave me to eat...even their nasty broth. Yes I googled the jello. But is no worse than pop/sodas/meds they give you. The carb waters give ya gas. The meds they give you all have things not so healthy for us.Other than what they gave my in surgery I took nothing for pain.We don't eat out and cook all our homegrown vegggies. I do alot of water and juicing. Yes I eat eggs/chicken/turkey...very little dairy[butter/yogart]. To each his own. Best wished to all.

Like Bernadette, I was never on a liquid diet. I had my surgery in the morning, was in a room in the early afternoon and had a meal delivered before 5:00, not that it was edible. I never did get a "menu" to chose from, and somehow the hospital had decided I was diabetic. I don't understand how they expect you to get your digestive system moving when the food is the way it was. I had visitors bring salads and decent coffee, which did the trick.
I knew there was a reason I don't like jello.

Last time I was in they round and told us what the stunning options were the only problem was no veggie option (which I had told them about previously) so I was given two dollops of watery mash, no milk or butter and that was there idea of a nutritious meal funnily enough I lost my appitite the water and ice were a much nicer option!
