Re: Did you post your surgery on Facebook?

I had a private message on FB for those who wanted to know how I was doing, mostly family and good friends. It worked out great because my hubby only had to call my kids when I got out of surgery and they were able to update everyone else! A lot less stress for hubby it worked out great!

Re: Did you post your surgery on Facebook?

I have told everyone who has asked privately about my upcoming surgery. I posted on FB the generic planning of the surgery without the specifics. I am not embarrassed but know some people are uncomfortable.
Most have provided great support. Be warned: a couple of friends frustrated me by telling me that I should enjoy my vacation in the hospital and how much they enjoyed that time after their c-sections.
Are you kidding me? Vacation? Enjoy the hospital time after a c-section? I told them they obviously had quite different hospital experiences than me.
Anyways, that is the good and bad about FB.
Good luck with your decision.

Re: Did you post your surgery on Facebook?

I too had my appendix out a few months ago...it was not ruptured though and I had it laproscopic. I had an awesome recovery from it. They day I got home was the worst of it...only because I had not eaten and when I finally ate took all three meds they gave me at once...huge mistake. I vomited of and on during the night....finally realized the reason was the antibiotic....I have an intollerance to augmentin. I did not realize they gave it to me since they said amoxicillin. It was not in my records either (it is now) because the last time I took it, it was given to me by the dentist.

I sure hope my TAH recovery will go as well.

I've also had a 'friend' that's acted like I'm just on a long vacation and shopping/playing all the time. It's really irritated me and ignored most messages that implied such. She has no idea what this is like. I know it hasn't been as bad as it could have, but it def hasn't been a vacation.

Re: Did you post your surgery on Facebook?

I posted it on fb. One of the reasons was to get prayers that everything will be ok. Another one is that you'd be surprised as to how many people you know on fb have had the same tHing. Then when someone sends you a message asking you how u r doing, it kind of feels nice that people are thinking of u :-) good luck with everything!

I have posted about being in alot pain, stressed out, sleepless nights and having to have surgery but never said what kind of surgery. You know my so called family and friends (only a few actually know) have never asked whats wrong or what kind of surgery. Thinking i need new family and friends.....

Did you post your surgery on Facebook?

I'm having surgery in the morning and just posted it on FB. For me, it doesn't feel any more personal than any other surgery, but I'm probably in the minority on that. I wanted people to know why I'll be laying low for several weeks.
