Entering 3rd week post-op TAH...still SO much tummy soreness and swelly-belly!!

I have found tremendous relief from the "Swelly Belly Band" that I purchased thru the Hyster Sister Store.
I can not recommend it ENOUGH!!!! It gives me great comfort & support. Sometimes I think I'm addicted to it because I can't stand it when I'm not wearing it! I am 2 weeks & 2 days post TAH.
You are still recovering and it will take time for those nerves & muscles to heal. Ibuprofen has helped me with these symptoms too. Have you tried ice packs?

Some days are worse than others for me too. Have you tried the swelly belly band? I like it, even though I only use it occasionally. My problem is that I already had a big abdomen and now it feels really weird sticking out there above my incision and looking disgusting. I also have to pace myself with activities no matter how small and make sure I take plenty breaks to relax. I hope this soreness and swelly belly will pass soon!

swelly belly and soreness

Hi,

I'm now 5 weeks and my belly is getting less swollen and painful. I know you said you are at 3 weeks post and I assume you had a abdominal hysterectomy. What kind of panties are you wearing? Does the waistband rub against your incision? I wear underwear that comes up to my waist ( almost my belly button) as I feel this gives me more support. Walking helps, and rubbing Vitamin E cream on my stomach seems to have helped me also.
Hope this helps you, but, hang in as it does get much better between week 4 and 5!!

3 weeks post-op...

Everyone seems to really love the swelly-belly band...I'm going to order it and give it a try. I've considered using ice packs but didn't know if it was appropriate...at this point I'm pretty willing to try anything! I thought I was totally prepared for my hysterectomy but I have to say that the recovery is so much more difficult than I ever imagined...even after doing tons of research and reading prior to my surgery. I had a TAH with removal of both ovaries/tubes.

Hi. I had a TAH/BSO two days before you had your surgery.

I felt the same way about a panty girdle, but my mom insisted and bought me a couple. Well, it was difficult getting it on at first, but it has made a world of difference in how my belly feels. Try getting one in a larger size to start!
