5mths post op bleeding

Hello! I haven't posted in a while, things have been really hectic here! Another story! I Had hysterectomy on Nov. 4, 2005. I have had no real problems since surgery, but now I am spotting fresh blood(red). Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? I will be calling doctor later this morning. My husband is begging me to go to a different doctor. Not sure if I really want to go to another or not. I have seen so many doctors over the past year due to other medical problems, and just get tired of it all!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Melissa

HI Melissa. You don't specify what type of hysterectomy you had in your profile. Did you have a total hysterctomy or subtotal hysterectomy, did you keep your cervix is what I am asking? If you kept your cervix and I did see you kept your ovaries, you may be starting to have mini-periods. If you don't have a cervix, the fresh blood may indicate you have granulation tissue the vaginal cuff. This early in the game of bleeding and if you never had a problem with the Dr. that treated you then I would just see that Dr. If s/he doesn't provide you with a reason or treat the reason for the new blood then I would seek another Dr. If it is just granulation tissue it can be dealt with in the office with silver nitrate sticks. Take care!

Not sure what type of surgery it is called. He removed Uterus, cervix and one ovary. Thank you for your advice. I will continue to see the same doctor. My husband is just so nervous. I have had so many other things go wrong with me, that he is just a little paranoid! I guess that means he really does love me?!!

he loves you honeybee. i do understand what you are saying about doctors! if i never see one again, it will be more than good with me! i got my dental checkup reminder card in the mail and i tossed it in the trash. i just have soo much adversion to them now. ick! hugs. p.s. i do think you should get it checked out though. it is much better to handle things when they begin than to wait and let them become larger problems. i will be holding your hand at the doc. do try and let us know what happens. hugs!

You had a total hysterectomy honeybee, as he took the cervix too. Sounds like you may have some granulation tissue that is causing your problems, but won't really know til you get in there and have the Dr. do a internal exam. If it is granulation it can be dealt with in the office. Your DH does love you and he is in the protective mode... DHs' are great for that and we do have to love them for the natural way of wanting to protect their love ones! Take care and keep us posted!
