4th posterior repair revision tomorrow, afraid and discouraged
I had a posterior repair for a rectocyle last May. During the proceedure, the Dr. accidentally sutured a little "fold" of skin near the interoitus, and that grew into a shelf of skin on my perineum which made penetration painful and caused vaginal tearing (just inside of the shelf of skin). I have had several "revisions" of this shelf, and after the healing time, up to 12 weeks each time, when I attempt penetration, the vaginal skin tears. I have been unable to have intercourse since my surgery last May.
Tomorrow I am having what I hope will be the final revision of this posterior repair. It will be more extensive than the previous revisions, and I hope it will create an opening that will accomodate my DH during penetration. Of course, I am looking at another period of peri-bottles after voiding, pain, not wearing jeans or pants, not exercising (there will be about 14 sutures at the opening of my vagina)...whine, whine, whine. And, since the other proceedures "failed", I am worried that this one won't work, either. This is a specialist, I have faith in him, I just worry.
I have "surrendered" to the fact that my original surgery didn't go as planned. I have surrendered to the fact that I am healing differently than most ladies here (it is teaching me to try to not compare my recover to other recoveries). I have sort of "turned it over" as much as an atheist can do, and I am as ready as I can be to be yet again a patient, and hopefully a patient patient. (Yes, it is a new Dr., not the original surgeon who created the problem).
My DH is still supportive and optimistic, and I am very grateful for that. This whole ordeal has actually brought us closer together, which is its own blessing. I guess I am posting here because I know I have received support here, no one understands like my "sisters", and I need your prayers. (it is not contradictory for an athiest to pray....I pray to the universe). Thank you for listening. Mindy

I will be praying that all goes well with you Mindy and that your problem is fixed. You are very fortunate to have such an understanding/supportive husband and to be drawn closer.

4th posterior repair revision tomorrow, afraid and discouraged
Hi Mindy
I know it has been a long, hard and frustrating journey for you so far. I really hope that this is the final hurdle and that we will soon see you posting about how fantastic you are feeling (and that your sex life is back on track!).
Will be thinking of you tomorrow with my fingers crossed.
Hugs

Thank you sisters, for your support. I am home and the local is wearing off (ouch!). Mountainwoman, I am counting on your "prophecy". I'd better be fixed, I don't know what else I could do.
Sigh. Thanks again, all. Mindy

Mindy -
I am sending healthy healing vibes your way.
Glad you are out of surgery and on the mend (again).
I am with MountainWoman - this is the time!! We will all think positive and send that positive energy your way and your body will cooperate and heal and be good as new - wait, better than new!
Take care of yourself; you've had a longer journey than many others but it's not the length of the journey that counts; it s the outcome and yours will be stellar!!
