bowel prep

I've been reading numerous posts and it seems that the bowel prep is standard for any type of Hyst. I had a Lap and Hysteroscopy with an ovary removal and hernia repair 3 mo ago. I didn't have to do any bowel prep then..... what is the difference? I don't like the idea of drinking that stuff! My DR has not discussed pre ops with me yet. I'm scheduled for LAVH.
Is there anyone who DIDN'T have to do bowel prep?

I have not haad my pre-op date yet either. Iam very concerned about drinking that gross stuff. please let me know if you get any answers. Thanks!!

It seems that every doctor is different as far as bowel prep goes. I was one of the lucky ones....just no food or drink after midnight and an enema the night before. At your preop, your doctor will tell you what he/she wants you to do.

I didn't have to do a bowel prep, and I have seen posts from lots of others that didn't either. It seems to depend on the individual doctor. It's VERY important, though, to do exactly what your doctor instructs --- there are specific reasons for them!

BTW, don't forget to add your date to the calendar when you get it! We want to be able to send you off to the castle in style!
