Hysterectomy date confirmed 5/16! Anyone else have Gastric Bypass Surgery? How was your bowel prep?

Just got my date confirmed, 5/16/16. Doing pre-ops tomorrow, waiting for Drs. Office to complete my FMLA forms and hopefully get approved with requested 4 weeks off.

My doctor listed as surgery "robotic total laparoscopic hysterectomy/possible bilateral salpingo oophorectomy." I'm a little concerned because this also means removing of ovary or ovaries, which I want to keep.

Also, I had gastric bypass 3 years ago, I'm a little concerned about the bowel preparation the day before surgery...
Anyone here had gastric bypass and how did you do with the bowel preparation?

While I can't answer your questions about the gastric bypass, I am hoping others in our community will weigh in with their personal experience.

I do urge you to speak to your doctor as soon as possible to discuss the possibility of removing your ovaries. This is a vital and crucial decision - so please find out why your doctor is notating that their removal may be necessary. So for peace of mind, you need to know exactly what the doctor will be considering in making this decision. Sometimes one ovary is healthy, so the doctor opts to remove only the risky one.

Additionally, some doctors prepare you for this possibility as they may uncover things that necessitate ovary removal during surgery.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Knowledge is power and will give you confidence and reduce stress.

I'm having a TAH BSO on the 9th. I had my pre op yesterday and he said I don't need to do a bowel prep. Maybe you'll get lucky and not have to do one!
