Upcoming surgery 7/25: what type of of hysterectomy is indicated

I had a Novasure Ablation 9 months ago and it was considered a failure as I have postablation sterilization syndrome, and have a central hematometra that is 2 cm across. Opening the cervix was not successful as the scarring is too heavy and goes too far into the muscle of the uterus. Now I am being scheduled for a hysterectomy but do not know what kind is typical with the scarring of the cervix. Does anyone know if a laparascopic / vaginal hysterectomy can still be done with this situation?

My Doc said that I should think of the pain as though it is a miscarriage that cannot leave the uterus. The pain is tremendous and has gone on for well over a week - with at least 2 months worth of menstrual discharge stuck in there.

Thank you for your help.

and . The type of surgery depends so much on your surgeon's experience and what he's comfortable with given your circumstances - everyone is unique in that regards. The one to talk to is your doctor, and do talk to him: this is your body, your health, your recovery in discussion. Find out what he's considering, and discuss if an TVH or LAVH is possible. It very well may be.

Meanwhile, here's an article on Hysterectomy Types which gives some idea of what might be possible, plus here's a thread from late 2014 of a similar discussion. One of the Sisters who responded had a hysterectomy with cervical scarring being one of the reasons. Her surgery was robotic. If you type "cervical stenosis" in the search box upper right of this page, you'll find other threads with surgery types all over the map from abdominal to lap assisted vaginal to daVinci.

Sounds like they intend to take out your cervix. I had a LAVH where they do the hysterectomy portion laparoscopically and remove it all vaginally. I wish they had done the cuff (the sutured area at top inside where the cervix used to be) laparoscopically as well. The rumpled edges feel weird in there.
The best way is always what your doctor feels he is the best at. In the end the result is the same. I wouldn't worry about the how as much as the what.
