Any childless women who've had a LVH?

I am a childless woman whose oncologist is suggesting they "try" to to an LVH but fears they may not be able to due to my never having had a child. Anyone out there had one and not had children? I am just wondering if they have to cut the vagina to get the uterus out???....I do have tumors...Also, anyone know what a "partial vaginectomy is"? I saw that on the the letter I got showing that the surgery was okayed by my HMO.

Hi! I had a LAVH, and I've never had children. I had fibroids and a very large uterus, and my GYN was able to do it vaginally. He warned me that he might have to convert to an abdominal incision, but he did not have to! He told me that another option was doing an episiotomy to get a little extra room, before switching to an abdominal. But he did not have to do that either. It is amazing what a good surgeon can do! Hope yours goes well!

I believe the issue is the same whether you have had NO children or no children vaginally.....
My doc is doing the LAVH and she has said the same thing about maybe having to convert because my only child was delivered C-section and I have seen other posts on here that have mentioned this...
You might get more replies from post-op'ers if you broaden your title to include women who have not had any children vaginally - I would like to read the replies as well...
