dumb question... is it safe to laugh?

I have been trying not to laugh too hard because it hurts and I don't want to mess up my incision. I have a boyfriend who clowns around and thinks that laughter is the best medicine. Normally I agree with him but right now I'm concerned about it. I try to hold a pillow over my incision when he gets going. I cracked up over a ridiculous Knight Rider episode on TV when I was still in the hospital and OMG it hurt...I changed the channel because I was afraid I'd hurt myself.

How does everyone else feel about this? Safe? Or avoid it?

dumb question... is it safe to laugh?

Unfortunately (or fortunately) we can't really control laughter. The DH and I were watching TV last night and it hit me out of nowhere...I grabbed a pillow, but it was too late. Ugh! Probably the only time in our lives that we don't really want to laugh because it literally hurts, huh?

dumb question... is it safe to laugh?

I was told that laughter is ok but to hold a pillow over my tummy, it helps relieve the pain. With having severe allergies it helps with sneezing too.

I'll keep a pillow handy when he starts being crazy! I mean, I like our silly late night IM conversations. Long as I can get away with it safely!

dumb question... is it safe to laugh?

Personally - I love when my DH causes me to laugh. YES - it hurts - but I was told (emphatically) by my doctor and nurses that nothing will break if I laugh. So - I hold my belly and I laugh. It IS the best medicine.

dumb question... is it safe to laugh?

I am at 5 weeks post-op now and I can laugh, sneeze, and cough without it hurting. It just feels strange. So you have something to look forward to......And laughter is the best medicine.

sneeze

It hurts so much to cough and today I sneezed and nearly hit the ceiling. I though I was going to have to call the paramedics to scrape me off the ceiling. OUCH!!!!

Oh my goodness... I had two sneezes erupt out of nowhere today and catch me unprepared. I literally saw stars from the pain! Laughing I seem to handle okay.
