Post op infection and just found out!

My recovery seems to be going so much slower than I anticipated and I just haven't been getting better every day like I thought I would. Sunday, I was nauseous and had some abdominal cramps and no appetite. Yesterday, I just wanted to sleep and my back was hurting alot. I woke up this morning and was really hurting. In fact, I was crying my pain was so bad in my back and lower belly. I was up very early just waiting for my doctor's office to open so I could call them. I noticed I had two new voicemails on my cell phone as I was listening to the messages I heard a message dated 12/7 from my doctor. That was the day I was discharged from the hospital. Somehow that message was on my phone and I never heard it. My doctor was calling that night a 8:30 PM to let me know that my labs indicated I had a UTI and she phone a prescription into the pharmacy for some antibiotics. Good grief!! I've had a UTI for 2 weeks, untreated and just getting worse. No wonder I feel like yesterday's garbage. I called the doctor's office at 9:00 and explained the crazy miscommunication and how I just found out that I had a UTI at discharge. The PA told me that explained the symptoms I've been having and she told me to go get the antibiotics and start taking them today. I'm also to drink only water and lots of it! Hopefully, by my 2 week appointment on Friday I'll be feeling better. Meanwhile.......I'm spending my birthday in my recliner, with my heating pad, and my family is bringing me take out!

Post op infection and just found out!

I too developed a UTI & felt horrible. My UTI symptoms were more painful than my abdominal incision! I felt much better after a day or so of antibiotics. Make sure you don't miss any doses. Good luck.

Thank you everyone~ I'm so happy to report that I seem to have taken a positive turn in my recovery. I feel so much better tonight and actually have NO back pain and very little pelvic pain. I'm taking Motrin along with the antibiotics and not needing the narcotic pain relief at all. Thanks for all your good thoughts and encouragement. The birthday celebration was done at home with my mom baking a pound cake and my DH going for takeout BBQ ribs. My best friend came over yesterday and decorated my Christmas Tree as my birthday gift~ everything is so much better!!!
