Re: Incision drainage

Oh I know how you feel...mine is still draining 14 days post op and I expected this and my dr said just keep it clean as I have and change dressings and it will gradually slow down and I think it has, I use a non stick gauze that pulls the wetness away so its not wet there. I had a area of skin above the incision along the edge that had turned white, almost looked like a burn...dr tues did not like the looks of that area said it would be a month healing and he wanted to speed up that process so he told me what he wanted to do and I was not too keen on the idea but I went with what he felt was best and keep me from risk of infection. He took me to his prep small surgical area.... layed me down... numbed my belly up good there along incision...then cut all that dead area out!!!! Then brought the two fresh pieces of skin together and sewed me up... come out with 8 stitches! Now have to go back tues for those to be removed...but area is so much better looking ..so I think it was a good choice...so doing well, feeling good today so feel I am on my way to recovery.... good luck on your recovery too...wish you the best.

Re: Incision drainage

Hi All,

My incision also opened up. My incision is vertical from belly button into top of pubic area. My doc taped me back together and told me to clean it with peroxide daily. It is healing slow but doing very well. It is almost completely closed now. Being taped this way made me feel very secure. Of course I purchased the abdominal band and love it. It keeps me from feeling loke I am falling apart!!!
