6 days post-op (LSH) and feeling guilty for being lazy!!!
I am seriously feeling soooo guilty for sitting on my butt all day....my biggest effort goes in to what i'm going to eat and what part of the house / yard I'm gonna walk around!!!! LOL!!! Is anyone else struggling with this?? I am on day 6 post-op and ANYTHING i do makes me feel soooo tired, like I just finished a marathon.......along with the abdomon discomfort. I know I need to take it easy but feel like maybe at this point I should be doing more than I am!?!?!
I have such a great support team at home...family and friends....so I have no pressure to do anything or get anything done....but my personality is just not handling this well!!!
It seems from posts on here that different types of Hysts. require different amounts of healing time...and each person is different also in what they need..... Any others had a LSH that can give me an idea of how recovery went for them???
I did call my dr. office just a few minutes ago and they told me I NEED to take it easy for 2 weeks...not doing laundry...not cleaning...that type of thing...the nurse told me I would pay for it if I did.....she said to lay low and walk...and that was it!!!!!!
I guess I am just looking for some kind of permission...I feel silly saying it....grrrrrr!!!!! My body is not keeping up with my brain right now....my brain says get up and get busy...and my body is fighting it with all it has!!!

I am granting you permission...to lay low and walk as your instructed!
It is far better to feel lazy and bored, than to be sore and sorry!
Now is a good time to catch up on your , write long over due letters, start a journal, , , , , etc. Give your body time to recover before you get ambitious!
Remember, you only get one chance to heal right the first time!

Re: 6 days post-op (LSH) and feeling guilty for being lazy!!!
Well that is exactly how I felt last week when I decided to get all crazy and do 2 loads of laundry, let my 7 year old son have 2 friends over to play, cook dinner, and pick up around the house. The following day I felt very tired and sick. That night I started bleeding quite a bit and was in a LOT of pain. So, don't test yourself like I did to make sure the dr. is right. Take my advice that he/she knows you need to be resting or you will be sorry like me. So, it made me go backwards in my recovery. I have hardly left the couch in 2 days. If I had it to do over again, I would not have done those things or anything besides walk around the house and yard.

Re: 6 days post-op (LSH) and feeling guilty for being lazy!!!
I am almost 4 weeks post op from LSH. I know exactly how you feel. I overdid things because I felt like I should "be doing stuff". I had really bad pain, and started spotting. I did this two weekends in a row. by week 2, I was feeling better, and felt like I could do anything. WRONG!
Even at 4 weeks, I feel great, but I do get a little tired if I try to do too much in one day.
Even if we only have a couple incisions, we still have to stop and realize that we DID have an organ TAKEN OUT OF OUR BODY.
Relax and take it easy, enjoy the break. It doesn't last long.

it is so good to hear this from you ladies!!!! I just feel like when i am sitting here reading a magazine...or watching a movie....and everyone else around me is doing EVERYTHING...i feel sooo bad!!!!! I guess I need to just suck it up and relax!!!!!!! What is wrong with me....I feel like I go and go and go on a daily basis....and now I am fighting the break that I so often crave!!!!!!! lol!!!
The nurse I spoke with today did tell me that I would still be tired from doing things at the 2 week marker...and to be prepared for that.....but until then she said to just take it easy......agh!!!!!!!
