1-month post-op

My bladder was snipped during my hysterectomy due to the huge amount of scar tissue left over from a ruptured appendix when I was 10; I am 52 now.

I ended up with a catheter for one week to allow the
bladder to heal. Post catheter, I had a bladder infection for which I took Cipro for 7 days. I'm now taking probitics to regulate my good bacteria again.

I still am not feeling well. I feel lethargic and can only sustain being up for about 3 hours a day. Then it's back to bed. I thought I would feel better than before. I'm trying to use herbs post-op, and I'm not sure if that's a good choice. I'm thinking about going on hormones. The hot flashes are viscious, and I'm thinking I don't feel good because I lack hormones.

Thank you in advance for your opinions.

Marianne

Re: 1-month post-op

Also 1 month post op. I had pretty extensive surgery TAH, BSO, large tumors and other assorted cysts, fibroids, & debris removed, D&C and lapro before TAH, vertical incision...

I was told I would probably heal a bit faster on hormones, also feel a bit better. I waited a week and then I started Premarin. I can tell you that it improved my skin...

Re: 1-month post-op

Sorry you are going through all of this. I can't imagine having a catheter for a week... I was done with that after 24 hours. I think the probiotics will help you feel better, but it might take a while.

If you can only be up for 3hrs a day.....then that's all you can do. REST is OKAY. Don't push it. You have been through a lot.

Maybe there is something your doctor can give you to help with your energy (Vitamin B-12 shots). Or like you said start the hormones... can you do that temporarily???

Remember.... be good to yourself. Take all the time you need to heal. We are here for you!!! :-)

Re: 1-month post-op

I was told I could go off the hormones in 3-5 months and it would also prevent large calcium loss from instant menopause.
