Two weeks post op

Hi, my name is Liz and I had a total Laparoscopic hysterectomy April 24. Did so well after surgery, I went home at 4pm that very day - couldn't stay in the hospital AND get uninterrupted sleep so going home was the best move for me.

Here it is almost two weeks later and today is the first total feel good day so far and have loved not feeling exhausted after doing the slightest of things for a change!

I have four more weeks off before doc will let me go back due to my line of work: up to 1/2 desk dependent on the day and the rest is physical often with some serious heavy lifting. I know I'll have limits when I go back and my work is aware I'll need to ask others for help for a while. My biggest problem is me: I am a fiercely independent type who hates needing help BUT I do know when to ask for it.

I can't find anywhere what the differences are between getting just your uterus removed and getting both your uterus and cervix removed as far as recovery goes. Anyone know the answer?

Re: Two weeks post op

I am not a doctor but personally, I think that recovery is a little bit faster if you keep your cervix as there was less cutting inside and therefore, it is a tiny bit less invasive. Just so you know, the cervix is part of the uterus (the bottom or neck section of it) so when one says they have the uterus removed, it usually includes the cervix. If one says they had a partial hysterectomy like me, it means that only the top part of my uterus was removed. I hope this helps.
