1 week post hysterectomy - Wow where did the weakness come from?
One week out and I have been feeling pretty good. Yesterday I took it easy and nothing exciting to report there. However last night while I got some great sleep I woke up really tired and ended up sleeping in much later than I ever do! By 1:00 I fell asleep again and slept another 4 hours. I got up to take my dog out and barely made it down the street and back. I felt so weak and exhausted. Has anyone else has this crop up here and there? Tired I get but I felt weak. Just wondering what to expect when I go back to work next week. May need to give a heads up about this!

Right now (at one week), you should be walking only 5 minutes/ day. (Increase by 5 minutes each week to move towards a smooth recovery and rebuilding.) So it makes sense that you are exhausted after doing a bit more.
You really should take at least 4 weeks off work. Many people take 6-8. I went back for half days after 4 week,s and that was plenty. Your body needs time to heal, or you will suffer setbacks and lose time at work anyway.

Oh, Sweety! It's too soon to walk away from your home. The big weak spells are the worst the first few weeks. I'm on week 6 and those have passed but there are still times where I suddenly get fatigued. At this point in your recovery you need to power rest. Don't leave the house alone. Walking is important but you can do that inside. Because of the heat I am still walking up and down my hallway instead of going outside. Rest rest rest. Your body has been through a major surgery. Hugs! 💖

Re: 1 week post hysterectomy - Wow where did the weakness come from?
It's great that your body is being so clear about its needs at this stage of recovery and that you're giving it what it wants. :-) Keep in mind that this is generally a six-week recovery, so one week is still really, really early.
I politely disagree re: hard and fast limits on walking. I went out and walked around the block on my first full day home, four days after surgery. I went home, rested and *felt refreshed after I'd rested for a bit.* (That's key - if you rest and then still feel as if you got hit by a truck, you've walked too far.)
Everyone is different. That's why it's so important that you listen to your particular body. Also keep in mind that your body's needs will change from day to day as the healing in your abdominal and pelvic areas goes through different stages. And - just a thought - was yesterday a particularly hot day where you are? Did you make sure to get extra fluids to cope with the heat?
It definitely sounds as if planning to start back to work next week was a bit ambitious. Nothing wrong with ambition, but you may need to change your plans.
