Feel like I'm losing my mind!!!!

Hi ladies, I am getting SAH w/ BSO and a tummy tuck to have something to look forward too. I am already having hot flashes, ect (at least after surgery I will have hrt to help). Lately I have been in a lot more pain than normal, but I have also been crying like crazy. I know it is probably hormones, but I feel awful I keep yelling at kids for next to nothing. I feel like such a bad mother, I do apologize to them and try to explain why I have been so moody but I don't know if they understand. I have 2 boys 9 and 16. Sometimes I feel like I am going insane, I try to stay in my room more so I will not lose it on them. I pray time will fly so this will be over with and I can be on the road to recovery for my children. They probably think I am insane Thanks for listening to my ranting, it does help (a little) to get it out. God bless.

Feel like I'm losing my mind!!!!

Hey Hon-You're not crazy- you're having a "lack of estrogen" moment. It is very common for our nerves to be fried right before surgery. The HRT after surgery should help tremendously though. Until then (afte too) why don't you join us in chat? Instructions for how to get in are on the top of the pre-op board. Hope to see you there! It's a great place to hang out and get real time support and have your questions asked!

Feel like I'm losing my mind!!!!

You're not insane. You're in pain and that causes anyone to be cranky no matter how nice of a person they normally are. I know there are days that my husband would just prefer to avoid me because of the mood I'm in. And I don't mean to push him away but I'm just hurting so bad that EVERYTHING annoys me and I don't want anyone around. Not even my beautiful children. I know what you mean about snapping at your kids over nothing. My son is 2 and my daughter is 7 months and there are times I just freak out :explode: at my son for no reason what so ever. Then he bursts into tears and I feel like the wicked witch of the west and start crying  right along with him. So you are definitely not insane. You're hurting and your hormones are doing funky things. Crabbiness is normal, I think. Shhh...don't tell anyone. I'm trying to make myself sound "normal" too!!

Big to you!!

Feel like I'm losing my mind!!!!

It's OK to be crabby! There is so much going on for you right now...pain, fear, anxiety, pain, worry, (did I mention pain?)...plus you are trying to be a good person, a good mother, a good worker, a good wife, a good.........you have alot on your plate!

I was a wreck before my surgery...and I bet every single woman here has felt the same. It's all part of the process. The bright side is, that when it's over and all behind you, you will have your whole life to be healthy...you can really be the person and the mother you want to be! Just hang in there a little longer, and use us as your sounding board. Do stop into Chat, and post whenever you need to.

If you feel the anxiety is getting the better of you, talk to your doctor. Mine prescribed Xanax for me...I took a half a pill twice a day. It didn't alter me at all...just took the anxiety down a few notches to where I could function, and not be growling at my family all the time. It helped alot...please do speak to your doctor about it.

Hang in there...you are NOT alone and you are NOT crazy!!

thanks all

It is so helpful to hear that I am not the only one. I do use chat as often as I can, but with work etc I don't always find anyone in there. I had some vacation days left at work so I only have 7 1/2 days left to work at least. That is a little help. To top it all off I started bleeding yet again COME ON 10/30!!!

I am taking vitamin C so I won't get a cold, so pray for me that I stay healthy. If it has to be postponed I will not be able to handle it. Thanks for you replies and putting up with my ranting, I'm sure I will be ranting on these boards again

You're Not Alone...

Dear DjHoney,
"You're Not Alone"... I myself thought I was going crazy too. There's so many things that's occuring with our pyhsical & mental well being, which is causing these emotions to arise.... believe me I'm on the "Emotional Rollercoaster", I call it. My dh is very supportive, but he does ask me why all the various MOOD swings.
My doctor prescribed me Ativan 1mg which really helps. Please discuss with your doctor perhaps he/she giving you something to help ease some of the "anxiety"... Hang in there, and know that you do have support here with the wonderful sisters & great site. When and if you do have the opportunity to join in chat, we would love for you too do so...
Many Warm Hugs,

Feel like I'm losing my mind!!!!

As I wipe away the tears from my eyes, it really gives me hope that I'm not really crazy. This stupid disease, this impending surgery is making me nuts. My hormones are on overdrive, I am having hot flashes that are unbelievable as well as mood swings not to mention the pain. I have been yelling at my son and my two soon-to-be step daughters constantly. I can't seem to relax. Fortunately all of you give me some hope! I am going to call my doc tomorrow and ask about Xanax or Ativan. Thank you so much for sharing your stories.

Hi Michelle,
I just wanted to let you know that I understand how you feel, and it's frustrating. But please hang in there, and yes, by all means call your doctor, great idea. I hope that your doctor will prescribe you something for the anxiety. Take Care and know that you're in my thoughts & prayers... Let us know what happens
