New Here

This is my first time visiting this site! I was looking for a place to find information about TAH.

I am scared about having this done, but I am hoping it will help with all the issues I have been having for the past two years. Cramps, extreme back pain, bloating, bleeding, and painful intercourse.

My previous Dr. made me feel as if I was crazy. March of this year I switched Dr's and had my first appointment in April. He immediately ordered an ultrasound! It came back that I had Fibroid Tumors. He sent me to see a specialist and now I am having a TAH.

He did let me know that my Uterus was twice the size of a normal Uterus, and that I have multiple tumors. TAH set for May 14, 2010 (my mothers birthday)

I do have a question for anyone whom can answer: The pain is horrible, what do you do to help the pain?

Thanks for making this a helpful place!

Re: New Here

Hi!
i am so glad you found us! This is the best site ever! No where will you find people that understand you and what you are going through! And the information is unbelievable! I am also happy to hear that you found a better Dr that took you seriously!

My advice is to read read read on this site, all the wonderful pre op articles and also the pre op forums. Pay particular attention to the Members Hints forum. that is filled with advice, use a notebook and jot things down, make a list for things to bring to the castle, things to get ready at home, etc.

I don't know what to tell you about the pain, alternating advil and tylenol is what saved me most of the time. ( although it would get so bad i just went to bed) Have you tried those little heating pads? The ones you stick in a belt and wear? thermocare or something
My uterus was 4 times the regular size when he removed it, but i did not have fibroids. I had what is called adenomyosis and endometriosis.

If your pain is bad, please let your doc know. He needs to know and may be able to help you. I liked ibuprofen.
