Already Glad I Did This
It's me again. Just wanted to share a little more info.
First, when my doc came to see me the day after surgery, he said, "Once you recover from this surgery, I predict you are going to feel 100 times better than you did before the surgery." Eventhough my fibroids were relatively small, he said they were deeply embedded in the inner lining of the uterus. He said these type tend to be the most symptomatic regardless of size. (I knew I wasn't imagining my pain, but sometimes wondered if I was being a "wimp" with my golf ball sized fibroids when I hear about others the size of oranges and melons). His comment "validated" my symptoms. He also said that I had "many small cysts covering both ovaries". These were apparently new ones as my most recent transvaginal ultrasound last summer showed that all the cysts had disappeared. This finding made me very glad I had opted to have the ovaries removed too, and explained why my stabbing side pain had returned despite being on Depo-Provera.
Finally, at my post-op appointment today, I learned that the inner perimeter of the cervix had several benign cysts as well. My PAP 3 months ago was normal, but again these were found on the inside edge so would not really be noticeable in a routine exam.
Fortunately, all the cysts on the ovaries, cervix and uterus were benign. Nonetheless, I can't help but wonder what may have ultimately developed had I put this off for another two years. I'm just grateful on so many levels that I have a thorough doctor and a supportive family who encouraged me to go forth with this when I did. I'm looking forward to a future with no pain, no unwanted blood, and fewer cancer-related worries.
Here's to feeling better and more confident already

Welcome back Jay-Jay. I'm so glad that your surgery went well, and that you are feeling well, not only physically, but mentally.
Please remember to rest alot, (don't spend too much time at the computer, because it *is* tiring!!).... drink lots, take a lot of short walks and be a good !
