Incision worse after silver nitrate treatment

Hi Ladies,

I am 6 1/2 weeks post op from a TAH. At my 6 wk checkup a few days ago, my dr. treated me with silver nitrate. The small hole in my abdomen is worse now. It is larger and constantly has fresh blood oozing out. Has anyone else had this happen? And what was done about it?

I cannot post from an experience like yours...But as I think I've posted before, my old ob dr put a tiny drop of my DS's circumcision when newborn...which is like...unheard of. I remember it was raw and red for quite awhile, and I ended up taking DS to pediatrician, I was so worried. And she told me, "It will probly get worse before it gets better." And it did! I hope this helps.

Call your doctor and have him/her look at it. In the meantime, keep it very clean by letting the soapy water run over it in the shower, drying it well and then covering it up with a pad or something sanitary. Hope this helps.

I told my husband last night that I felt a little silly telling the sisters about DS's circumcision, but he responded, but it did heal up pretty fast. So hopefully it will improve really soon. Keep updates.
