Endo and Breast cancer

Hi there

Can anyone tell me if endometrial cancer is linked with breast cancer? I have had endometrial and now have found a lump in my breast, the doctor says i have more than one lump and that it is fibrocystic breasts and we need to keep an eye on it.

I am concerned because my endometrial started with fibroids and it is worry me a lot. If anyone can relate it would be great.

Good wishes to you all

Endo and Breast cancer

Hi. I am sorry you are being troubled by this. I am kind of worried and wondering about the same thing. I think the key is that you are with a doctor that is going to keep an eye on it. If your doc is in your trust then this is a good thing too! A year ago I was called back on a blip on the mammogram and they determined it to be "fibro-something" breast. This year that is what they called "stable" (no change I guess) and it was of no concern to the docs. However now I also have a nodule (other breast), possible lymph node acting up, so back I will go again for a check, hopefully sooner than later.

I have heard/read a few different things. One about the cancer axis between the breast, uterus, and colon (and I don't know if it was a matter of any one dx first off). I have also heard about excess estrogen or taking the wrong combo after a hyst can cause problems down the road ...but if we are not taking hrt then that lowers our chances perhaps. I also heard that one does not predict the other and our chances are not any higher than the average population.... which unfortunately on its own per capita is too high even by itself.

I would think/hope the fact that you are aware and watching is already being ahead of the game. Best to you! -Terri

Endo and Breast cancer

Hi Terri

Thanks for your reply. I am very sorry to hear that you are having similar symptoms, i hope and pray that the nodule is a fibrocystic nodule and nothing to worry about. I have read a lot of your posts and you have had enough to worry about in the last couple of years.

Please let me know how you get on. This cancer seems to take over our whole lives doesn't it? Even when you try to get on with your life normally it rears it's ugly head again. I recently heard that a friend i was at school with had endometrial cancer which went to her breast and then to her brain, she died 8 weeks ago. That has really freaked me out!! She was 52.

Sorry if i am being rather down, just having a rant.

Wishing you all the best and let me know how you get on.

Endo and Breast cancer

I have a friend who had endo cancer, then breast cancer. The doctors all told her they were completely separate and hers was a fluke.

I do believe it is very, very rare for this to happen. I also have fibercystic breasts. Many younger women have this and as you age the breasts are suppose to get more fat and less fiber. Well, mine have stayed the fibercystic and dense. I just had a mamo and all is OK. Hopefully yours are the same.

Good luck to both you guys. Will we ever truly be over the fear of this thing?

Endo and Breast cancer

Hi Terri and Juanita

Thanks for your replies. My GP wants to see me in three weeks to have another feel!

I don't think you ever stop worrying, unfortunately, after you've had this horrible beast. We try to get on with our lives but we are all aware that it can return as we hear it from people on here and from friends relatives etc. the only answer is for us to be vigilant. As one doctor said to me, "there's one thing we know about your body, it knows how to make cancer"!!

I try to look at people who have had endometrial cancer and those who have had a mastectomy and haven't had a recurrence. There are are a lot of people who live for many years afterwards so we have to take heart from them.

Good wishes to you both.

Endo and Breast cancer

I thought I once remember reading that endo cancer and breast were somewhat related. I am not sure though. One week after getting my endo cancer dx, my mammogram came back with a suspicous 4 mm. nodule. I absolutely freaked out over this. I still was in shock over this endo cancer and then to be told this..I freaked!! I was scheduled to see a breast specialist who then did an ultrasound. He determined it was a swollen mammory gland and said we'll just keep an eye on it.

In Aug. I had another mamo since that one and the nodule has not grown, which makes me think that maybe since I had my hyster for the endo cancer and I no longer have my uterus and ovaries that maybe it has stopped this from growing since the way I understand these are estrogen related cancers.

Maybe someone else knows more about this and can clear up if endo and breast cancer can be linked together due to estrogen (excessive)

I wish you the best of luck and my prayers go with you.

Hugs

Endo and Breast cancer

I am no expert but I thought that endo and breast were not usually related, my surgeon discussed this with me (my sister got breast cancer at age 32). Endo is linked to bowel cancer and if endo spreads it usually goes to vagina or lung.
Obviously there are always exceptions and every lump or bump or symptom should be thoroughily checked.
