I am so TIRED of constipation

It is not all the time, but sometimes it seems like it takes FOREVER to go...and I am taking stool softeners. I told hubby I am beginning to wonder if they sewed my butt up. LOL Does anybody here take laxatives to help move things along? Doc said it would be ok to take a mild laxative, but have not done it yet.

I am so TIRED of constipation

I use a stool softener with a mild laxative in it, and a cup of coffee in the morning, and that does the trick, but boy do I have to run as FAST as possible because it feels like my whole belly is going to split apart from the pain of the movement, it disappears as soon as I go though. I've also heard Milk of Magnesia works too, I haven't had to yet, but I do have it.

I use Miralax. It is very mild. It may take a couple of days before it starts working but once it does it keeps things going smoothly. It's not addictive so can be used regularly. I like to put it in a cup of hot tea before I go to bed at night. It usually works right after breakfast.

I used the senna type (for some of that gentle overnight action) and it seemed to work well. But, you gotta DRINK LOTS and LOTS of water no matter what type of stuff you choose! Stewed prunes were helpful. I ate lots of beans and lentils, too, to get the fiber.

Go to McDonald's in the morning and have an egg or sausage Mcmuffin w/egg with the hash browns. Then go to the supermarket or walmart. You'll be looking for the bathroom before you get to aisle two!

Seriously, stool softener will help the pinch when it does come but did not help me to "go" at first. Take senna. Two at night. Or if its serious take 3 at night the first time. I think senna is natural.

let me know how it goes. I have this issue alot!

Thanks. I am not good on the liquid stuff to take for constipation. I can't stand the taste. We have this Mexican restaurant here that normally does the trick on me really good, but I ate there the other day and it did not phase me one bit!! However, pizza hut did the trick the other night, but then after that, back to the constipation! I have been taking the Phillips Stool Softeners. I guess maybe I need to try something different.

Activia yogurt, apple juice, shredded wheat or bran cereal, coffee, and lots of water are a few things that helped me...and still does! A big glass of apple juice is especially "fast acting" for me! Hope you feel better real soon!

My doctor recommended Senoscot as a all vegetable laxative- a bit expensive but it worked well when I was really bound up For everyday, I drink fruit smoothies for breakfast I add a carton of ff fruit yogurt, fresh or frozen fruit, ice chips and water or a splash of milk to my blender and add a T or 2 of psyllium powder This gives you the protein you need to heal and the fiber from the psyllium and fruit sends me to the bathroom every morning! Add a little umbrella and sip slowly with a straw , chase with coffee or tea You will feel like you are on vacation!

I have been using the Miralax a couple of times a week and have prunes after breakfast and after dinner to keep things moving.

I still take stool softeners twice a day, eat fruit and vegetables, drink lots of water and eat Fiber One bars. It is still a stuggle. Hopefully it will get better for all of us soon.
