Re: Discharge Instructions Questionable

Maybe you should go for a second opinion. I would be very leery of a doctor that gave me those discharge instructions if they are the right ones. Does it say "Hysterectomy Discharge Instructions" at the top of the page?

Re: Discharge Instructions Questionable

It says Laparoscopic Gynecological Surgery at the top.

I have a phone consult tomorrow AM with the Doctor to have my questions answered. I plan to follow my body and all the info from you ladies. Thankfully, I'm blessed with a family that is willing and able to support me as I recover.

I am struggling with the idea that a total hysterectomy is considered minimally invasive!

Re: Discharge Instructions Questionable

"Laparoscopic Gynecological Surgery" could be anything from a look see inside you to tubes being tied to a hysterectomy. I am glad that you are getting clarification from your doctor tomorrow. Having an organ removed is a lot different than simply having a look around on your insides.

I struggled with that same thought... and I still disagree with my physician that this is a breeze or easy.

Re: Discharge Instructions Questionable

I'm wondering if you got the wrong instructions also. My doctor told me that after my surgery I am to be on strict bedrest for three weeks total. She told me, and my husband, that if I followed the strict bed rest for three weeks that ultimately my healing would be optimal and I would have less problems in the long run. Driving can be anticipated at 5-6 weeks.

I know my surgery is going to be more complicated than most because she is calling in a second surgeon to assist. (And she TEACHES at a University how to do surgeries!)

As for the person that had DaVinci - I have heard AMAZING things about DaVInci post-op! Congratulations!!!

Re: Discharge Instructions Questionable

I agree with the others. That sounds like generic lap instructions not lap hyst instructions. I also have never heard of the hospital giving discharge instructions prior to discharge, or prior to the surgery. Weird.

Re: Discharge Instructions Questionable
