TAH/BSO 2weeks post op/activity level ??
Hi there.......
Just wondering any of you who had similar procedure and exactly what the activity level should be at this time of 14-15 days post op. I still have steri strips on but about 4 have fallen off and the others are loose.
Sit to stand position is getting easier for me every day.
Driving???
I am ready to go ... ..just dont want to get myself into trouble!!

TAH/BSO 2weeks post op/activity level ??
At 14-15 days out, I still had quite a bit of pain and tenderness in my belly, and I didn't care to drive. I didn't drive until a week later. I could certainly move around and get things for myself, I had more energy when showering and brushing my teeth, etc., but basically I was lying around working on the computer and watching TV.
I think about that time I was taking small walks outside the house but doing nothing strenuous. Not cooking dinner or anything. I remember we went to the grocery store around that time and I had to stop and rest in the middle of it, and was worn out by the time we got home. But I didn't lift anything heavy, I let DH do it.
Those were still pretty big recovery days for me. Don't go getting all motivated on us. Take care of yourself. I'm glad you're feeling better.

TAH/BSO 2weeks post op/activity level ??
Thanks Horizon for your reply........
You specifically answered an important issue I had today. I had a helper who took me to the store today for a few things so actually it was one of my first outings and I walked the store but didnt push the cart and when I got home I was worn OUT !!! I was worried this wasnt normal. Hubby thinks I should be doing more walking I think. He had open heart surgery in Dec 05 and they wanted him to WALK-WALK-WALK. I think our surgeries are a bit different though as far as pushing the walking.
I am not lifting either and WILL NOT for a LONG time !!

TAH/BSO 2weeks post op/activity level ??
Hello Kathim,
I also had TAH/BSO... I was only taking short walks at 2 weeks post op. I walked a block the first couple of days. Added another block every couple of days. I didn't drive myself until 4 weeks. I live alone and didn't want to be stranded by myself. I remember my first trip to the mall I was in 2 stores about 30 minutes, I had to sit for about 30 minutes before I had enough energy to drive home. I only drove every other day at first, just short trips to local stores and, of course, no lifting. My experience was the energy level finally returned after about 5 months. Everyone heals at different rates. I worked out regularly before surgery and returned to work after 6 weeks, but I still got very tired.
Take it easy and pace yourself.
Best Wishes!!
