Scared of HRT

I am having a TAH next week. I have requested that the dr leave my left ovary however if the mass on my right turns out to be cancer she will have to take both.

I am 36 yo and very afraid of being on HRT for a long period of time. They were never able to get it right for my grandmother or my mother (nor for 3 of my aunts). Are there other options I should know about that I could discuss with my dr?

Thanks!

Scared of HRT

There are many options for hrt, which is a good thing as hrt is not one size fits all. While it took me some time to find the right combo for me, I did find it! Patience and educating yourself about the many options out there is the key. I would suggest that you start by reading the articles at www.hormonejungle.com

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.

Scared of HRT

I am 35 and just had a TAH at the end of January. I am not currently on hormones either. I agree, HRT scares me. But I must admit, so far most of the menopause symptoms have not been unmanageable. The worst is the sleepless nights, which I finally had to take something for. So far I am dealing with the hot flashes. You might want to see how your body reacts first. It might not be as bad as you think. I must admit though, my nails are actually growing nicely now.

Good luck on your surgery. Just be patient in your recovery and listen to your doctor.
