Pre-Op today
I had my pre-op today and everything went good. They had a hard time finding my veins to take blood so I had to be stuck 3 different times, both arms and one hand. I felt like a human pin cushion and my DH was getting very upset. Other than that it was good. I was dreading the possibility of having to do the bowel prep but found out that I don't have to do it. Yay!!! The only issue that I did have was they found a small amount of bacteria in my urine. As soon as I got home and got into comfy clothes the hospital called me to tell me I had to come back and do sterile urine sample. I had already told the nurse that I am prone to getting UTIs so that they would give me some antibiotics immediately after the surgery since I would have the catheter. I went and took care of that and was reassured that it would not cause my surgery to be postponed. Well as I’m typing this post, I get a call from my GYN office and it has been confirmed I have a UTI and I have to go in tomorrow for a prescription. I don’t ever have any of the symptoms that other people have told me are absolutely horrible so I never know when or if I have one unless I have to give a urine sample. I guess it’s better to have it now than later. Well I’m now officially ready to get this over. I have to be at the hospital on Monday at 11:00 a.m. and my surgery (TAH/BSO) is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. For the first time since I found out I was having this surgery, I’m not feeling any anxiety although I will probably not sleep at all on Sunday.
