new her trying to figure it all out
I am 30. 3 kids. I have been married to the same man for 13 years. Everything is fine..........except my pain. It is time for me to get something done but her I sit with no insurance and I am unable to pay cash for a hysterectomy. I am looking into insurance and it is going to cost me a great deal of money. what do I need to look for or ask to find a insurance that will eventually pay for this procedure? My state has a teaching hospital that is very well known and has been highly spoken of. I wonder about trying to get in to that hospital to see if something can be done. I am so tired of feeling the way I do. After reading what some of you say the ins companies require before having surgery I am just not sure I can wait that much more. I am so frustrated!

First off and most important, I would never put off a surgery that is needed because of money. I have been where you are many times and am very guilty of not doing what I should for myself just because I didn't want to be left with a big bill and large payments for what seems like forever. The hospital, dr....etc can say all they want about how you need to do this but you know how the story will go, especially if you hit a hard time and you don't have that month's payment. I've have been there sooo much. Seems like the simpathy ends as the doors close behind you and you step into your vehicle.
My daughter has had chronic bladder infections since the age of 4 (she is 15 now) and her urologist put some reference to kidney disease in her chart.....now we can't touch medical insurance. We have tried several times....we buy a policy at what we feel is a resonable price, being very upfront about our daughter....they say it will be fine....they call us back wanting much more.....one asked for 1000 per month. We have always canceled and asked for our money back. Why pay that much per year...we might as well pay our bills and for the past 11 yrs, that is what we have been doing. We did get our daughter on Kid Care which is Illinois Medicaid because she is considered un-insurable. Not what I wanted to do but we have no options here.
The hospital I go to is has a program for the Medically Indigent (as they label it). They are a hospital that accepts donations....and as it is explained to me, they have to give out what they make so that it will remain a not-for-profit account. I have had to use this several times and it has to do with your adjusted gross income on your taxes. If that income falls below 40 thousand you can qualify for reduced or free service. We farm and at the end of the year we usually buy inputs that adjust our income for taxes so this adjusted gross income can fluctuate quite a bit depending on what we need to do. You need to call your patient accounts department and ask.....they don't tell anyone about programs like this....you have to know it exists and ask. More than likely your hospital has something.....ask!!!!!
Also, here in our county seat there is a department of rehabilitation and I know several people who have used that department and received state help. Go.....for goodness sake and check all these places out....they are there and I'm sure you state has something. Call you state insurance office in your capital and ask for information....they will direct you. I called our state and found several areas of help...do it now, don't put it off.
Some insurances don't help a whole lot if you have a problem and then try to buy. My surgery was a lot, over 15th. My Dr lowered his bill to 40% of his fee and I am now waiting on the Hospital to tell me how the Medically Indigent program is going to help me. If they can't it just will be set up on payments. Get yourself taken care of....you cannot exist the way your feel. I had surgery in Jan with no insurance and no idea about where I would get the money and I am glad I did. At least now, I feel so much better and can at least look at getting work if I feel we need to do something more to get this paid.
Bottom Line ----- YOU COUNT FIRST ----- Take care of yourself!!!!
