How much is too much?

Had a LAVH/BSO on Feb. 6/07 for Complex Atypical Endomitrial Hyperplasia. Everything went very well. Apparently since I wasn't having any "problems" beforehand my recovery is going extremely smoothly. I've had hardly any pain and only spotting bleeding. In fact I feel like I did before surgery. What I'm wondering is how much I can do i.e. around the house - dusting, sweeping, making beds, unloading the dishwasher and halping to make meals and how much driving (I've already been to work for an hour or so and drove home)? Reading info on the net makes me think I may be doing too much but I feel perfectly normal again.

How much is too much?

I'm not your doctor and you should definitely ask him. But I would say light dusting is okay. And you could probably help with dinner as long as you aren't lifting anything too heavy. As for the rest, I would say to lay off of it for a while. Some of those chores work the stomach muscles that are trying to heal.

I ended up with acute lumbar strain five months out because I lifted something too heavy without thinking. So now everytime I try to do anything that requires bending over, I feel it in my back and sometimes in my stomach.

It is better to be safe than sorry.

How much is too much?

Hi Saan
It's harder when you feel good I think. There are a couple of articles that might help you. One is a list of what's Allowed and not allowed during early recovery. The other one is titled Too Much Too Soon . There are more in the post op articles that would probably be helpful and then there are the Checkpoints.
I hope you'll not try to do too much yet. You're still very early in your recovery. You only have one chance to heal well and it's right now. All that other stuff will still be there when you're well. Sit back and let others do it for a while if you can.
's, Rita
