I am a teacher, and I returned to work 3 1/2 weeks post op.

I teach adults, so it was barely doable.

My class starts at 8:30AM and ends at 12:00 PM.

I tried to sit as much as I could, but I had to stand sometimes.

I would come home at noon and make myself some lunch, and put my feet up to rest.

I don't know how some women can return to work so fast, full time or more.

Maybe they are younger and stronger.

Re: worried about going back to work

I was very lucky. I had been advised in advance to take 8 weeks for recovery, and I found someone who could cover my job for that period.
I work in a school library at a High School. It is only a 7 and a half hour day, but it combines some sitting, lots of standing, and up to 60 Kids to supervise during lunch time.
There are many people at my place of work who have had hysterectomys, so I had lots of advice about having time off for recovery, and even a phased return to work.
The Headmaster at my school, has been very supportive, and I am hoping to go back for half days for a week, with someone helping me over lunch time.
My brain and energy levels I hope will be back to normal by then, but teenagers are VERY demanding
If you can stay away from work for longer, I should do so. An 8 hour day, or longer, and on your feet all that time will be exhausting, and could set back your recovery a long way.

I went back full-time at 4 weeks and a bit - high school, in four different rooms on a large campus. I think the worst part was when I was sitting - too uncomfortable! I was exhausted at the end of the week, but never in pain. I felt ready at around the 3 and a half week mark, got the okay from my specialist at 4, and then gave myself several more days to feel completely prepared. The most difficult part for me was reminding myself to take it easy. I did stay hydrated and made sure I hardly carried anything. And fatigue was always the biggest hurdle.

Good luck to you!
