Waiting for results from D&C and LEEP procedure due to cervical dysplasia & endometrial hyperplasia

I have had abnormal paps several times, and a few colposcopies.

Last Thursday (8/11) I had a hysteroscopy, fractional D and C and LEEP procedure due to cervical dysplasia and endometrial hyperplasia. It was my second LEEP, I had the first in April 2015, and apparently it did not quite do the trick as my pap a year later was abnormal once again.

I also have (HPV) DNA test positive. I am post menopausal (around 10 years out). I have not experienced any bleeding, and yet I had a transvaginal ultrasound that determined that my endometrium was 15mm - much thicker than it should be. Both the doctor and the ultrasound tech were surprised that I experienced no bleeding. This is what prompted my surgery last Thursday. Now I am awaiting results - I am quite nervous, and actually plan on calling the doctor tomorrow if I don't hear from him.

Should I be nervous? Could this be serious? Do you think I should have a hysterectomy? I know that you aren't doctors, but as you know, just talking to someone and getting some feedback is comforting.

Anyway - thanks for listening and I will keep you posted on my results...

Re: Waiting for results from D&C and LEEP procedure due to cervical dysplasia & endometrial hyperplasia

I'm sorry you are having both cervical and endometrial issues, that must be stressful. Have you heard back on the results yet? Sounds like you are having the testing you need, have you also considered a consult with a GYN oncologist, if you have not already? They could discuss your question about hysterectomy once they had test results. I hope by now you have results so you can have a plan. Please let us know how you are doing.

Re: Waiting for results from D&C and LEEP procedure due to cervical dysplasia & endometrial hyperplasia

I had a cone biopsy (bigger and deeper than LEEP) and D&C six weeks before my hysterectomy. This was not enough time to heal and the inflammation made it so vaginal stitches did not take well. If you decide to get a hysterectomy or should I say you need one because of precancer; I suggest no sooner than 8 weeks but you may want to wait longer. Try not to worry about results. Keep your spirits up and take care.

Thanks for responding! Good news - no sign of cancer! I see my doctor again on Sept. 12th. I'm still concerned about the constant abnormal paps and the HPV - we will talk more about a hysterectomy when I see him. I'll keep you posted! Thanks again!!
