suddenly lactose intolerant?

okay, so my appetite has sucked since the surgery (may 6), but for the most part it's just a matter of not being hungry.

but the last few days, when i have milk, ice cream, etc., i have stomach pain - and not in a small way. dairy has always been a staple for me; i love milk! i can totally live without ice cream, but milk?

it makes me so sad. and is this even possible? could a hysterectomy lead to this?

Re: suddenly lactose intolerant?

That happens temporarily for some people post op and lasts two to four weeks.

Re: suddenly lactose intolerant?

It happened to me, but primarily with straight milk. I can tolerate "processed" dairy like yogurt and cheese OK.

Re: suddenly lactose intolerant?

thanks, both of you!
i also realized that it could be a side-effect of the prescription i'm on. i developed a pulmonary embolism post-op and am now on warfarin.
