28 w/ Adenomyosis

I'm a 28 year old woman with no kids who was diagnosed with adenomyosis last year. I was put on estrogen which made me feel like crud. My doctor promptly took me off. She kept me on Nuva Ring birth control for my entire cycle, taking it out only to put a new one in.

I have had heavy spotting for the past three weeks. I'm already anemic so it's not helping my energy level. I've gained weight since the estrogen patch and generally feel cruddy.

My doctor previously told me the only permanent solution to adenomyosis is a hysterectomy. While I've never felt kids are in my future, I'd like to keep my bits intact as long as possible. I'm supposed to have a 2nd opinion in July but had to make an appointment with my old OBGYN as I'm having discomfort and can't wait.

My original OB didn't tell me much about adenomyosis, alternatives to a hysterectomy, or anything really. I'm here to hopefully get some advice and support.

I don't have any advice for you, just wanted to say that I hope you get some answers as well as relief. I'm 25 and finally after 6 years of pain and multiple surgeries, I'll be having a hysterectomy. Please, let me know how your July appt goes.

A lot of women have had success with ablation. It would be worth asking about.
