Do I have to quit smoking before TAH?

I wonder if it's possible to quit smoking before a TAH while being so stressed.I'm doing my best and I just smoke about 5-6 per day while I was smoking 20-25!But it's really very difficult. What have you done with this?

Re: Do I have to quit smoking before TAH?

I quit smoking the day of my TLH which was 6-4-12. I was smoking 1 pack a day. Still smoke free. Have not gained any weight either.

I wasn't told to quit, just not to smoke the day of my surgery. Good luck to you

Re: Do I have to quit smoking before TAH?

While ideally quitting is the best thing for you obviously, cutting back and weaning yourself is more likely to help you quit in the long term. I have had a couple friends try to quit after surgeries and sometimes proved more stressful.
Hopefully, with meds and recovering you may not want them as much. Take this as an opportunity to quit. Smoking has proven to slow healing also. You have already cut back...proving you are more in control than you think.
I wish you the best of luck!!!
