stomach after hysterectomy

O go tot he castle monday, i have been reading several post and some including one of the nurses at the hospital said i would live a hysterectomy becasue my tummy will be flat after, i do not have a huge tummy now, just a pooch from hhaving my kids, but my question is does a hysterectomy really help with it, or is this just for owmen with a swollen uterus who no lo nger have the swollen parts? i know dumb question but i keep thinking about it and have to ask! i am not expecting it, but after reading several say they lost inches becasue of ther hysterectomy i have to ask!

you lose some but what you can expect is to be swollen for a bit the worst swelling is initially but it continues...here go we call it swelly belly. It goes away eventually and everyone is different. Mine disappeared for a bit then came back at two weeks or there about. My tummy is flatter but not flat never has been and gets bigger thru out day as i move more and don't lie down. The ice gel packs and heating pads help a lot!
don't worry about belly it will be ok...
try not to worry about surgary you will be thru it ok. You getting horizontal or vertical incision? Mine was horizontal...from what I understand it makes a difference.

a tip try to do as much before surgary like cleaning cooking shopping you won't be able to do this for awhile.

I am having a LAVH so i will have small incisions on the belly....luckily my husband is taking 2 weeks off, more if needed to take care of me and the house, so i will not have to do any of the cleaning/shopping. i am sure it will not be as i would like it, although he is an excellent cook, just not an excellent cleaner...LOL. I cannot wait for it to be over. one more question, did you do a bowel prep? i have to do this tomorrow starting at noon, and i wonder what to expect, i have visions of being by the toilet all day, although i know my body can hold only so much waste, what do i expect with this?
