I have a diagnosis!

OK, so it is AFTER the uterus is removed! But, hey! I finally have a reason! For 20 years, I have had problems with periods. 2 laparoscopies, many medications, 2 kids....never any real diagnosis. Great doctor who treated all my symptoms as best he could, but no dx. So, today, he told me that my path report showed anenomyosis! Thank God! I told him that if that stupid path report came back with "totally normal" that he had better just create some darned dx or I was going to lose my mind! After all of these years, it is nice to put a name to the gremlin in my gut! I am not totally crazy in the head!!! (And my hubby was in the room today to hear it first hand!--Yippee!!)

Thanks for listening! I feel better now! On that note, I am going to bed!

I have a diagnosis!

Elizabeth-
I know what you mean. I know when they first found fibroids in my US, I asked the doc if that could me causing all my symptoms. I was told maybe, but the severity of my cramps and bleeding were probably not due to the small fibroids I had. Of course the fibroids got bigger, but when I got the path report back, I too had adenomyosis in my uterus as well. That certainly explained a lot of the pain over a lot of years that I had experienced, and justified all of the tears! Here's to years of good health!

I have a diagnosis!

I just got my diagnosis yesterday, 4 weeks after my uterus was removed, and guess what? Same thing. I googled adenomyosis and found the only way to find it is MRI--that is expensive enough I see why they just go ahead and take it for people like me that are done having kids anyway.

I have a diagnosis!

I was also diagnosed with adenomyosis in my path report. Initially, the adeno diagnosis was dismissed because the radiologist said the MRI ruled it out, but the lab got a hold of things and said, yep, it's adeno. Certainly explains the years of horrible, horrilbe pain with my period and the heavy bleeding. I also had several large cysts, one being outside the uterus and pressing on things that also caused constant, severe pain. I am now 3 weeks post-op, and already I feel tremendous relief. I am so thankful that I didn't chicken out and went through with the surgery. So, anyway, if you get a report that dismisses what you feel, then get a second opinion. I did, and it turned out I was the one who was right, and not the radiologist.
