Questions aboutwhat will happen when cervix is removed???

Yes your right Torry.
I did have my list, got half way done when I realized he was not just talking about taking the uterus..he said there is no way I can keep my cervix and the jury is still out on the overies....after that all we talked about was that (cervix) where he would be cutting if off and stuff I cant remmber now... I just sat there numb and cried like a big baby tryin too listen and understand. But everything bacially is a blurr , even the bus ride home by myself..omg that was so hard not to cry while on the bus.

I have read a few threads about the recovery an effects of loosing the cervix...Iam still terrified yet still wanna know all! good or bad..
feel like I'll never have a normal sex life ever again....born-again-virgin...
Iam very glad he did give me something to take to relax me...only woke up a few times last nite..which is good iam soooooooooooooooooooooo tired...even more so emotionally

I take it ...it takes a hell of a lot of sticthes to sew u back up once its removed..also read that it takes longer to heal...my dr. says now i'll be in hospital 5-6 days

ty for your thoughts an concerns...hugssssss

Questions aboutwhat will happen when cervix is removed???

I am going in March 5th for a vaginal hysterectomy, cyctocele & rectocele (sp?). As of this point, they are leaving my ovaries ~ but depending on what they see ~ could remove them. They are also taking the cervix.

I was curious about the monthly cycle, as I may still have my ovaries. I read the earlier posts, that you still have a cycle ~ but I never heard about ovaries going into shock ~ could you explain a bit more.

Overall, I am just looking forward to getting this done. Love my Dr, so feel comfortable ~ good timing as kids will still be in school, so I can actually rest during the day.

Enjoy the day,

ink

Questions aboutwhat will happen when cervix is removed???

If you see the anatomy the vagina is connected to the uterus. once the uterus is removed the vagina needs support of some fashion, internal ligamets, mesh, porcine graft. Ask your doctor what he has in store for you- sometimes it is very individual to the patient and the doctors expertise. good luck!

Questions aboutwhat will happen when cervix is removed???

I had my cervix removed and kept my one remaining ovary.
I was told the dr. used ligaments to "tie everything up".
I had some spotting/discharge for awhile after surgery. Nothing now. Sex is fine ... just as good as ever!
